That's right, looks like we're stuck with them for the time being :)
Si Paton's been part of the National series for a few years now. In 2007-09 he teamed up with fellow racer Steve Parr to take over where Dave Morgan left off. Steve moved on to new pastures at the end of 2009, but Si quickly found a new right-hand man in the form of Dave Franciosy. For those who don't know Dave's background, he's the man who originally set up SouthernDownhill.com, many years ago, so he's no stranger to the industry.
Between them they've brought us a great series so far this year, with more sponsors and glitz than ever before.
Their efforts seemingly haven't gone un-noticed by Biritsh Cycling either, with BC granting them a further two years to run the most important series in the UK. Long may things continue to improve!
Hot through the letter box today of the BDS HQ from British Cycling's main man Roger Wilbraham is the exciting news that the innovative and electric duo of Si Paton and Dave Franciosy have secured the National Series right through to the end of 2012.
Si Paton - Race Director says,"Dave and myself are 100% committed to developing the series to be the top National series in the World and be ranked just below the World Cup series. BC's letter of confirmation now allows us to negotiate long term sponsorship, investment and infrastructure opportunities which will allow us to raise the standing of the series. Everyone will benefit from this two year deal, the riders, spectators, armchair fans, sponsors, land owners, press and the MTB industry as a whole.
We would like to thanks everyone for their support so far along with our army of helpers who have made the series what it is today.
Si Paton, Dave Franciosy, Hensley and Buzz!
